Overview
APPS.GL_DEFAS_ACCESS_DETAILS_PKG is a General Ledger support package that implements the DEFAS (Definition Access Sets) framework used by Oracle EBS to control which users or responsibilities may access, define, and maintain specific General Ledger and Financial Statement Generator (FSG) definitions. The package belongs to the broader GL_DEFAS security architecture, which allows administrators to group definitions (such as FSG row sets, column sets, content sets, reports, report sets, recurring journals, and mass allocations) into named access sets and then assign those sets to responsibilities.
The package also serves as a metadata broker: rather than hard-coding access logic for each definition type, it maps an abstract object type string to the underlying base table, identity column, name column, description column, and filter clause. This allows the DEFAS user interface, concurrent programs, and any calling code to enumerate the contents of an access set generically. The header comment ($Header: glistddb.pls 120.16 2006/04/10 21:28:48 cma ship $) identifies the source file as glistddb.pls, a long-standing GL component shipped in both EBS 12.1.1 and 12.2.2. The package is classified by ETRM as OTHER in the API taxonomy, meaning it is not an externally supported public API but rather an internal implementation component.
Key Procedures and Functions
The package exposes ten documented procedures and functions:
- GET_QUERY_COMPONENT — The central mapping routine. Given an X_Object_Type value (for example
GL_DAS_FSG_ROW_SETorGL_DAS_MASSALLOCATION), it returns the identifier column, name column, description column, table name, and an optional WHERE clause that together form a dynamic query against the corresponding definition table. - GET_OBJECT_NAME — Resolves the descriptive name of a definition given its type and identifier, so callers can display human-readable entries in an access set.
- GET_OBJECT_KEY — Returns the primary key (or composite key representation) used to identify a definition within its base table.
- SECURE_OBJECT — Applies the DEFAS security check to determine whether the current user or responsibility is permitted to access or modify a given object.
- INSERT_ROW — Adds a membership row linking a definition to an access set or assignment.
- UPDATE_ROW — Modifies an existing DEFAS access or assignment record.
- LOCK_ROW — Acquires a row-level lock to prevent concurrent modification during maintenance transactions.
- DELETE_ROW — Removes a definition from an access set or deletes an assignment record.
- CHECK_UNIQUE_NAME — Validates that a proposed access set or assignment name is unique before insert or update.
- SUBMIT_CONC_REQUEST — Submits the concurrent request associated with DEFAS processing, such as propagation of access set changes to assignments.
Tables Accessed
The package references three documented objects through APPS synonyms:
- GL_DEFAS_ACCESS_SETS — Stores the named access set definitions maintained through INSERT_ROW, UPDATE_ROW, CHECK_UNIQUE_NAME, and DELETE_ROW.
- GL_DEFAS_ASSIGNMENTS — Records the assignment of access sets to responsibilities and users; SECURE_OBJECT resolves security by reading this table.
- DBMS_SQL — The Oracle-supplied dynamic SQL package, used to execute the runtime-generated queries assembled by GET_QUERY_COMPONENT (the base definition tables such as RG_REPORT_AXIS_SETS, RG_REPORTS, RG_REPORT_SETS, RG_ROW_ORDERS, RG_REPORT_CONTENT_SETS, GL_ALLOC_BATCHES, and GL_RECURRING_BATCHES are not directly bound because the table name is determined at runtime).
Usage Notes
GL_DEFAS_ACCESS_DETAILS_PKG is invoked internally by the General Ledger DEFAS forms and by three other PL/SQL packages documented in the ETRM repository. It is typically called when an administrator opens the Assign Access Sets or Define Access Sets windows, when access is validated during FSG report submission, and when a concurrent request must be submitted to propagate changes. Because the package uses DBMS_SQL with dynamically constructed identifiers, it should not be extended by custom code without careful validation of any X_Object_Type value passed to GET_QUERY_COMPONENT. In both 12.1.1 and 12.2.2 the package remains an unsupported internal API; customizations should restrict themselves to reading GL_DEFAS_ACCESS_SETS and GL_DEFAS_ASSIGNMENTS rather than calling the routines directly.
