Overview
OE_DROP_SHIP_PVT is a private PL/SQL package in the APPS schema that supports Oracle Order Management's drop-ship fulfillment model. In a drop-ship transaction, the selling organization takes a customer order without holding inventory, and a supplier ships the goods directly to the customer. Oracle EBS implements this through a linkage between the sales order line and a corresponding purchasing document (requisition, purchase order, or release). OE_DROP_SHIP_PVT encapsulates the internal logic that reconciles these two sides of the transaction, translating purchasing status information into order-management status and surfacing discrepancies between the buy-side and sell-side records.
As the API classification "PVT" indicates, this is a private package and is not part of Oracle's supported public API surface. Its routines are consumed internally by Order Management's drop-ship processing and by the SO_DROP_SHIP_LINKS_V view, which exposes drop-ship linkage information to forms and reports. Because Oracle documents the package as VALID and referenced by the drop-ship links view, it functions as a foundational, low-level utility rather than an end-user-facing component.
Key Procedures and Functions
The package exposes five documented routines, each addressing a narrow aspect of drop-ship status resolution:
- GET_PO_STATUS — Retrieves the current status of the associated purchase order or purchasing document so that Order Management can reflect procurement progress against the sales order line.
- GET_RELEASE_STATUS — Obtains the status of the purchasing release tied to the drop-ship line, used where the supplier commitment is expressed as a release against a blanket agreement rather than a discrete purchase order.
- COMPARE_PO_SO — Compares purchase order and sales order attributes to detect mismatches, supporting validation and discrepancy detection across the drop-ship linkage.
- GET_HOLD_NAME — Returns the name of the hold applied to a drop-ship order or line, enabling callers to identify why processing has been suspended.
- RECOVER_SCHEDULE — Recovers or reconstructs scheduling information for the drop-ship line, supporting rescheduling and date synchronization between the purchasing and order-management sides.
Tables Accessed
The package operates against the core Order Management and Purchasing base tables via APPS synonyms:
- PO_HEADERS, PO_LINE_LOCATIONS, PO_REQUISITION_LINES — Supply purchasing-side status, shipment, and requisition data for the GET_PO_STATUS and GET_RELEASE_STATUS routines.
- SO_DROP_SHIP_SOURCES — Holds the authoritative linkage between sales order lines and their purchasing sources, the central table for drop-ship resolution.
- SO_LINES_ALL, SO_LINE_DETAILS — Provide sales order line attributes needed by COMPARE_PO_SO and schedule recovery.
- SO_HOLDS, SO_ORDER_HOLDS — Provide hold definitions and hold assignments consumed by GET_HOLD_NAME.
Usage Notes
OE_DROP_SHIP_PVT is invoked indirectly. The principal documented consumer is SO_DROP_SHIP_LINKS_V, the drop-ship links view, which surfaces linkage and status information in Order Management's drop-ship inquiry forms and in associated concurrent programs. Because Oracle classifies it as a private package, customizations should not call these routines directly; supported integrations should use the public Order Management and Purchasing APIs, or the view where read access suffices.
The package is valid in both EBS 12.1.1 and 12.2.2 with no dependency changes noted between releases, other than reliance on standard SYS.STANDARD. Any modification or recompilation of OE_DROP_SHIP_PVT risks invalidating the drop-ship view and dependent forms, so it should be treated as Oracle-owned code and left unmodified.
