INV_RESERVATION_VALIDATE_PVT is a private PL/SQL package in the Oracle E-Business Suite Inventory (INV) application. The package reads reference and transactional data through APPS synonyms. Validation of organizations and items relies on MTL_PARAMETERS, MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS, MTL_SECONDARY_INVENTORIES, and MTL_ITEM_LOCATIONS. Serial-related validation uses MTL_SERIAL_NUMBERS and MTL_LOT_NUMBERS. Demand and supply source validation touches OE_ORDER_LINES_ALL, OE_DROP_SHIP_SOURCES, PO_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL, PO_REQUISITION_LINES_ALL, and PO_REQ_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL, allowing internal order, sales order, drop-ship, and purchasing demand to be recognized. FND_ID_FLEX_STRUCTURES is used for key flexfield structure validation, and PLITBLM supports descriptive flexfield handling. The tables are used for read/validation purposes; the package does not itself create or update reservation records.

Usage Notes

Because the package is private, it is normally invoked indirectly. The reservations API INV_RESERVATION_PUB and the enhanced reservation modules call the private validation package before performing the actual reservation, update, transfer, or deletion. The validate_quantity reference that prompts this search appears in the package header comments as one of the checks applied to both the original and target reservation records; the quantity check confirms that the reservation quantity is present and valid for the action requested.

Custom code should not call INV_RESERVATION_VALIDATE_PVT directly. Instead, callers should use the public reservation APIs, which enforce the same rules and manage the validation cache indexes internally. The package is referenced by one other package in the INV reservation stack, reinforcing that its role is an internal helper rather than an integration point.
