Overview
AMS_DM_MODEL_PVT is the private PL/SQL API package body for Oracle Advanced Marketing (AMS) Data Mining model definition and lifecycle management. In Oracle EBS 12.1.1 and 12.2.2, it encapsulates the business logic that validates, creates, updates, deletes, and processes Data Mining (DM) models stored in the AMS schema. As a PVT (private) classification package, it is not intended to be called directly by external integrations; it is invoked by public wrapper APIs, Oracle Forms, workflow, and concurrent programs within the Advanced Marketing module.
The package manages the complete DM model lifecycle: record validation, state transitions through user-defined statuses, model expiration and un-expiration, preview handling, model copying, and workflow-driven build processing. It includes extensive callouts to access control APIs (check_update_access, check_access) and enforces required-field and business-rule checks consistent with the application's standards. The header history shows evolution from 2000 through 2006, adding workflow revert support, status handling, row selection types, and build success processing.
Key Procedures and Functions
- CHECK_DM_MODEL_ITEMS — Validates individual attribute items of a DM model, comparing required fields (including null checks for insert actions).
- LOCK_DM_MODEL — Obtains a lock on a model record prior to mutation.
- CREATE_DM_MODEL — Inserts a new DM model, applying default row_selection_type ('STANDARD'), default status code, and callouts to access APIs.
- UPDATE_DM_MODEL — Updates an existing model, incrementing the object version number and closing cursors used for status handling.
- DELETE_DM_MODEL — Removes a DM model record.
- VALIDATE_DM_MODEL_REC — Validates a DM model record structure (the record-level validation entry point related to the "validate_dm_model" search).
- VALIDATE_DM_MODEL — Performs the primary validation of a DM model, encompassing access checks and business rules.
- VALIDATE_NEXT_STATUS — Added in 2001; validates that a proposed status transition is permitted under status order rules.
- EXPIRE_MODELS — Added for concurrent processing; expires models based on expiration criteria.
- UNEXPIRE_MODEL — Reverses expiration of a previously expired model.
- WF_REVERT — Handles workflow revert logic, including wf_itemkey management.
- PROCESS_BUILD_SUCCESS — Processes successful completion of a model build, updating related records.
- HANDLE_PREVIEW_REQUEST — Manages preview requests for DM model data selection.
- COPY_MODEL — Duplicates an existing DM model definition.
- WF_BUILD — Initiates or manages the workflow-driven build of a model.
- CANCEL_BUILD_REQUEST — Cancels a pending build request.
- HANDLE_DATA_SELECTION_CHANGES — Responds to changes in data selection parameters.
- HANDLE_DATA_SOURCE_CHANGES — Responds to changes in the model's data source.
- SEEDEDDATASOURCE — Provides or manages the seeded data source definition.
Tables Accessed
The package reads and writes the following AMS tables via APPS synonyms:
- AMS_DM_MODELS_ALL_B / _TL / _S — Base, translation, and sequence tables holding DM model definitions; the primary target of create, update, delete, and validation.
- AMS_DM_SOURCE and AMS_DM_TARGETS_B, AMS_DM_TARGET_SOURCES — Data source and target definitions used in data selection and source-change handling.
- AMS_DM_IMP_ATTRIBUTES — Imported attributes associated with model builds.
- AMS_DM_LIFT and AMS_DM_PERFORMANCE — Store lift and performance results produced by model builds.
- AMS_ACT_PRODUCTS — Product context for model scoping.
- AMS_CUSTOM_SETUPS_B — Custom setup definitions referenced during validation.
- AMS_STATUS_ORDER_RULES, AMS_USER_STATUSES_B — Status transition rules and user-defined statuses used by VALIDATE_NEXT_STATUS.
- AMS_LIST_SELECT_ACTIONS — List selection actions tied to data selection.
- DUAL — Used for trivial lookups and default derivations.
Usage Notes
AMS_DM_MODEL_PVT is invoked indirectly. Oracle Forms in the Advanced Marketing DM model setup UI call the public AMS_DM_MODEL_PUB wrapper, which delegates to this private package. Concurrent programs such as model expiration (EXPIRE_MODELS) and build processing execute portions of this logic. Oracle Workflow invokes WF_REVERT, WF_BUILD, and PROCESS_BUILD_SUCCESS during model build and revert cycles. Custom code should not call AMS_DM_MODEL_PVT directly; instead, use the public API or the documented forms to preserve validation, access control, and object versioning behavior. Referenced by seven other packages, it forms a foundational layer in the AMS Data Mining model subsystem.
