Overview
GMO_OC_TRANS_PKG is a process manufacturing (OPM) package in the Oracle E-Business Suite Applications schema (APPS) that supports the Oracle Cost Management / Operations Cost (OC) transaction reporting facility. Its central purpose is to assemble transactional data relating to operations cost activity into a structured XML document, which is subsequently rendered or consumed by downstream reporting components. The package is classified in ETRM metadata as "OTHER," indicating it is an internal helper package rather than a formally published public API. It is documented against EBS 12.1.1 and 12.2.2 and is referenced by no other packages, confirming its role as a top-level entry point invoked by a concurrent program or reporting layer rather than a reusable library routine.
Key Procedures and Functions
The package exposes a single documented procedure, GENERATE_OC_TRANS_XML. Its signature follows the standard concurrent-program parameter convention: ERRBUF and RETCODE are outgoing NOCOPY VARCHAR2 values used to return status and error text to the concurrent manager, while the remaining parameters supply the filtering context for the report. The input parameters identify the plant (organization), an optional object type, an optional object identifier, an optional operator, and a from/to date range expressed as VARCHAR2 values.
Internally the procedure declares a REF CURSOR type and variables for an XMLType result, a CLOB payload, and a series of working strings used to build the report content. It emits diagnostic progress messages to the concurrent program log via FND_FILE.PUT_LINE, beginning with a "START" marker and echoing every input parameter. The procedure also declares nested cursors that resolve the plant name and code, translate an object type identifier into its lookup meaning, and decode a given object identifier into its display value. The core output is an XML document constructed from the filtered transaction data, driven by a dynamically built SQL argument string and length/limit controls.
Tables Accessed
The package reads from the following objects through APPS synonyms:
- HR_ALL_ORGANIZATION_UNITS — resolves the organization (plant) name for the report header.
- MTL_PARAMETERS — supplies the inventory organization code associated with the plant.
- MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_KFV — returns item concatenated segments when the object type identifies an inventory item.
- CR_RSRC_DTL — returns the resource name when the object type identifies a resource.
- DUAL — used with a DECODE expression to branch across the object types and select the correct display value.
- XMLTYPE and DBMS_LOB — Oracle-supplied types and packages used to construct and manipulate the XML/CLOB result.
The lookup meanings for object types and transaction types are drawn from the FND_LOOKUPS view using the lookup types GMO_OC_OBJECT_LOV and GMO_OC_TRANS_LOV, which map numeric codes to user-facing descriptions. Collectively these accesses establish the descriptive context — plant, item, resource, and transaction type — that accompanies the operations cost transaction data in the generated XML.
Usage Notes
GENERATE_OC_TRANS_XML conforms to the EBS concurrent program execution model: it accepts ERRBUF/RETCODE for status reporting, writes progress to the concurrent manager log, treats most filters as nullable (object type, object id, and operator default to NULL), and accepts a mandatory date range as VARCHAR2. It is therefore typically registered as the executable for an Operations Cost transaction report concurrent program and run from the Submit Requests form or an equivalent scheduling interface. Because it is an internal package with no dependent packages, direct invocation from custom code is possible but unsupported; the recommended approach is to call it through its registered concurrent program. When extending or diagnosing it, note that the object type and object id are resolved independently through lookup and DECODE logic, so both must be consistent with the GMO_OC_OBJECT_LOV definitions for the report to resolve item or resource values correctly.
